A pentagram and a pentacle are not exactly the same thing. A pentagram is a five-pointed star, an ancient symbol often associated with the five elements and balance. A pentacle is generally a pentagram enclosed within a circle, with the circle symbolizing unity, protection, or the connection of the elements. In occult symbolism, the pentacle can be connected to the idea of “desire over the spirit,” depending on the orientation and interpretation of the symbol. Its five points can also be associated with the Five Wonders, representing five fundamental elements or principles and their connection to spiritual or mystical power.
